Keighley trader's recipe in new cookbook
10:20am Sunday 14th March 2010

A Keighley trader has seen his own recipe for beef stroganoff included in cookbook endorsed by a celebrity chef.
Following a nationwide call for the public to submit recipes, Rob Harding, who lives in the town centre, said he was shocked to discover his entry was one of the 70 selected.
The 128-page book – called Loaves, Fishes and More – has been devised by the church insurer Congregational & General and endorsed by the chef Kevin Woodford.
The book, which costs £11.95, features a range of recipes submitted by members of the public and church leaders.
It is on sale to help churches and charity groups raise funds and a donation is made to Christian Aid for each copy sold.
It is available at bookshops such as Reids, in Keighley, but people can also get hold of a copy from Mr Harding’s nearby business, Keighley Cartridges, also in Cavendish Street.
Commenting on his successful culinary concoction, he said: “It’s one of those recipes that I prepare when it’s my turn to cook the tea.
“As I’m not a professional cook I do like to follow the recipe every time to ensure I don’t get it wrong, but I’m sure adding extra ingredients will make it just as tasty.”
His dish now has pride of place alongside recipes provided by Mr Woodford and nine church leaders, including the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Mr Harding, 30, added: “It had slipped my mind that I’d even submitted my stroganoff recipe, so when I realised it had been included it took me by complete surprise. Knowing my recipe has a place alongside high-calibre cooks and church leaders alike is some-thing I’m very proud of.
“I’m so pleased to be a ‘published’ cook and I hope to make plenty of sales of the book to raise money for Christian Aid.”
His version of beef stroganoff was chosen from a large number of submissions judged by a panel led by Mr Woodford and representatives from Congregational & General and Christian Aid.
