Hundreds take part in charity 10K
11:43am Sunday 14th March 2010

Several hundred people took part this morning in the third annual Keighley BigK 10k run.
There was a carnival atmosphere at the start in Victoria Park as participants warmed up for the event, in aid of Manorlands.
At 9am the klaxon sounded and the serious athletes set off, followed a few moments later by those – of all ages – who simply wanted to have fun or complete the challenge of the course, which took in all the town’s four parks.
Mascots Freddie Cougar and Cliff the Castle were among those there to wave off the runners.
Organisers said about 500 people had registered before the day to take part and entries were being taken this morning.
It was hoped to raise something close to the £18,000-plus coined in last year for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder Care hospice.
