Arson attack at cricket club
10:12am Sunday 19th February 2012
Arsonists are being blamed for a fire which destroyed a storage shed at Long Lee Cricket Club last night.
The shed contained items including seats and pitch covers.
Two appliances from Keighley Fire Station were called out to the incident at 7.15pm.
But due to problems accessing the Goldenview site, via a narrow lane, a special Keighley-based Land Rover unit - normally used to tackle moorland fires - was mobilised.
The attack is the latest of several targeting local cricket clubs.
In September 2010 Riddlesden CC’s clubhouse was extensively damaged in a blaze started by arsonists.
And in January this year vandals wreaked havoc at the Keighley club’s pavilion in Lawkholme, daubing paint over floors, walls, windows and doors.
