Keighley Cougars thwarted by weather
2:26pm Sunday 5th February 2012
The Cougars were left frustrated after today’s final pre-season friendly at home to Rochdale was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
Jason Demetriou’s men had been hoping to build on the previous week’s win over Bradford Bulls with another victory at Cougar Park ahead of the new campaign.
Keighley kick off with a home game against Batley in the Northern Rail Cup this coming Sunday and Cougars chairman Gary Fawcett admitted the friendly against Rochdale is unlikely to be rescheduled.
After a pitch inspection deemed the Cougar Park playing surface unsafe, Fawcett said: “The weather has tagged us again.
“With the Northern Rail Cup starting this coming week, it is unlikely we will be able to reschedule.
“The pitch was just too frozen and it was unlikely the temperature would rise sufficiently to make it playable.”
